Winter golf in Michigan presents a number of unique challenges, not least of which is simply getting the tee into the frozen ground.

Fortunately, clever inventors have developed a number of solutions. One that I like (and own) are these rubber cones. They come in four heights: 14mm (1/2 inch), 18mm (about 3/4 of an inch) 24mm (just under an inch), and 38mm (about 1 1/2 inches).

As you can see, the tees simply sit on the ground, offering a platform much like the pinch of sand of yore. The tees work well for a variety of clubs — unless you like to tee up your driver more than 1 1/2 inches.

A nice feature is that the winter golf tees are all tied together with a long piece of twine. That keeps them from disappearing after impact.
