Papineau Named to Team Canada

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Nov. 18, 2019) – Senior Etienne Papineau of the West Virginia University golf team has been named to the 2020 National Amateur Squad for Team Canada, as announced by Golf Canada on Monday.

Papineau was one of nine athletes named to the amateur squad, which consists of five players on the men’s squad and four on the women’s.

Team Canada’s 2020 Squad members have competed and achieved impressive results at regional, national and international competitions, including medals at the Pan-Am Games, NCAA Tournament wins and victories at prestigious amateur competitions.

Through 15 rounds of play, Papineau is tied for the Mountaineers’ team lead with a 71.53 stroke average. He’s posted a pair of top-10 finishes as a senior and boasts a career scoring average of 73.37 at WVU.

A native of St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Papineau has twice been named to Team Canada’s Junior Squad. He finished in the top 10 at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship and won the Quebec Match Play Championship in the summer of 2019.
