Yarrow, an upscale course in the Battle Creek – Augusta area is closing at the end of the season. I had heard this rumor earlier in the summer, but an email I got this morning was the first official announcement I’ve seen.
No reason was given, but these things usually come down to finances — or lack thereof. The source of the early summer rumor said that the Conference Center, which includes hotel rooms, were being sold as a rehab center.
It is interesting to me that Yarrow is closing even as — just seven miles away — the Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort is opening its SIXTH course. Stoatin Brae is scheduled to open in 2016.
I’m torn as to whether to try to get to Yarrow before the end. On one hand, I’d like to photograph it for posterity. On the other, I think: why bother?
