Henick Stenson defended his title at the Dubai World Championship with birdies on 17 and 18 to finish at 16 under par. He was helped when Rafael Cabrera-Bello, who started the day as the co-leader found water and double bogeyed both the 16th and 17th.
Stenson finished two clear of World Number One Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Victor Dubuisson.
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy won the overall “Race To Dubai” championship. McIlroy had actually assured himself of that title last week.
If you want to know why the US has struggled in the Ryder Cup in recent years, you need look no further than the cast of players at the Dubai World Tour Championship. I think that at this point, there is much more depth of talent on the European Tour than on the PGA Tour. If you have any doubts, you should set your DVR and watch some of the European Tour events on the Golf Channel. I am always impressed with the skill and consistency exhibited by the players there.
