Exciting 2024 Golf Season Lies Ahead

The PGA tour is well underway and we’re already counting down the days to the first Major of the year. Whether it’s a player on the regular tour or someone from LIV shocked at having to play 72 holes, it’s a tournament we all look forward to.

Recent years have seen massive expansion in the North American gambling industry. Over 30 US states have made betting on sport legal. In Canada, there has been expansion too and golf is such a popular sport to place wagers on. Every time there’s a tournament, gamblers head to sites such as https://twin.com/en-ca/bets/golf to check out the latest odds that are available to bet on.

Not every US state has made sports betting legal. There are still concerns over the problems that some gamblers can develop. Then there are other worries about the amount of advertising that takes place and the offering of bonuses and promotions to try and attract new customers. Those are needed in a highly competitive industry.

Other states have been all too willing to pass the required legislation. They were able to do so after a US Supreme Court Judge made a groundbreaking ruling in 2018. It stated that the individual state can make the final decision whether or not to make sports betting legal.

The floodgates finally opened and it has proved highly lucrative for the state coffers. They can charge betting companies for the licenses required to legally operate in the state. Then they can receive gambling tax revenue so you can see why it’s such a popular decision to make.

In Georgia, there is yet to be any sports betting bills that have managed to get themselves passed and become law. 2023 saw bill HB237 fail to be passed by the Senate and no further discussions took place in the House.

The hope is that at some point the battle to make sports betting legal in Georgia will be won. It won’t be this year though as a GA sports betting referendum won’t be taking place.

There is the option of opening offshore accounts and that is something Americans had to do for years while waiting for their state to make sports betting legal.

Betting with a licensed and regulated sportsbook is a much better prospect. The level of customer protection is considerably higher and that’s something always to be appreciated.

The Masters and other golf tournaments due to be played this year will continue to be thrilling experiences. There are always plenty of betting opportunities available at sportsbooks on players such as Viktor Hovland and Xander Schaufele. The wait for sports betting to be made legal in Georgia will continue but it will be so worth it when finally that big day arrives.
