“This Tournament Has The Feel of A Major.”
These are words that ought to be banned from the lexicon of every golf announcer. The Byron Nelson “had the feel of a major.” The Memorial “has the feel of a major”. So does the LPGA’s Michelob Ultra Open At Kingsmill. And the Shoprite.
In fact, I’ve heard an announcer say that the present tournament “has the feel of a major” at least once during every event I’ve watched this year.
I know the talking heads want to say something complementary about the tournament of the week, but they can’t ALL feel like a major. If they do, then what exactly makes a major a major?
If I hear them say that inane line one more time at a non-major, I swear I’m turning off the sound.

Funny. I heard just the opposite. I heard announces during the Masters saying “this feels like the 84 lumber classic”….
