The Longest Tournament

With the Bob Hope now stretching into its sixth day of play (It was a five day tournament to begin with, and rain delays have added yet another), I’m wondering if some sort of record has been set for the longest PGA Tour tournament.

  1. I think the title for the longest goes to the AT&T (aka The Crosby).  In what was billed the longest-running golf tournament in
the world, the 1998 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am started January 29 and finished August 17. I remember some players could not be bothered to play the final round but Phil Mickelson made sure he had his calendar free and won by a shot.  As it was, the tournament was reduced to 54 holes from its typical 72.
