Zoom Broom Review

Zoom Broom Review

Zoom Broom
Grade: B
Teacher’s comments: It works well, but probably has more use as a home broom than an on-course leaf blower.

Manufacturer’s Site

Zoom Broom recently sent one of their lightweight (two pounds), cordless leaf blowers for review.

About the length of a driver, the Zoom Broom is designed to sit in a golf bag. The idea is that you would use it to blow leaves off the green during autumn months.

Obviously, it is meant for cart golfers, not walkers, but I thought I’d do a photo of it in my new Great Lakes Golf Company bag.

The idea of bringing a leaf blower to the course is not revolutionary. I’ve seen people do it (always people in carts), and over the years, there has been quite the series of golf twitter threads going on about people looking for a good portable leaf blower to take to the course. Here’s one:

The proper answer — the only answer — to this question is the “Zoom Broom.”

How can you not want a leaf blower that comes with its own headcover and fits in a slot in your golf bag?

I haven’t used Zoom Broom on the course (it is summer, after all), but have put it to good use blowing sticks, leaves and debris off my deck after a recent storm.

I can attest that it has plenty of power for smaller jobs. I wouldn’t want to use it to move the giant sycamore leaves that cover my backyard in a four-inch-thick carpet in autumn, but for smaller tasks, it is fine.

Here’s a video from the company. It’s pretty accurate in how it works.

Your need for a leaf blower will vary according to the course. The grounds crew at my home course, Washtenaw Golf Club (course link), keeps the course clear of debris. A harder working crew cannot be found.

On the other hand, there was this course I played one fall:

Whiffletree Hill Golf Course

My thought, however, is that the Zoom Broom might best be used for decks, sidewalks and other household projects that otherwise require pushing a broom. It is well balanced and can be swung easily with one hand.

The device tops off the power with a power brick that has a USB plug.

I can recommend the Zoom Broom as a light duty household blower, and potentially as a golf course accessory. It gets a “B” only because I am unconvinced as to its utility on the course.
