Adding Three New Golf Courses To The Collection

This past week, I added three places to my golf course “collection”: Monroe Golf Club, Sanctuary Lake Golf Course and Sylvan Glen Golf Course.

Monroe Golf and Country Club boasts a classic 1919 Donald Ross design. Although it is a private club, unaccompanied guests can get tee times. I really enjoyed my play; I love old school course designs.

Sanctuary Lake Golf Course
Sanctuary Lake in Troy has an unusual design for Michigan.

Sanctuary Lake has an unusual design for a Michigan golf course. From a high vantage, it looks for all the world like a classic links. The “heather” however, is actually mostly marsh grasses. On the ground, it looks “linksy” as well, but the marshy ground plays soft, rather than hard and fast.

Troy’s Sylvan Glen is a parklands style muni.

Finally, I visited Sylvan Glen in Troy. It’s a nicely kept parklands style muni.

I’ll have a complete review of all of these in the near future. In the meantime, check out all of my Michigan Golf Course Reviews.
