Construction Underway on The Horseshoe Bay Resort Golf Academy with Fall Opening Planned

Purpose-built space to include the 80,000 square-foot practice facility at Cap Rock complex

HORSESHOE BAY, TX – Horseshoe Bay Resort, Central Texas’ premier AAA-Four Diamond and Conde Nast Readers’ Choice Award-winning destination managed by the industry-leading Crescent Hotels & Resorts, announced construction is underway on a new state-of-the-art teaching academy with plans to have the space operational in the fall of 2024.

Construction on the 3,000 square foot Horseshoe Bay Resort Golf Academy began January 22.

The exclusive area for members and resort guests features two indoor bays with Trackman and Toptracer technology, club-fitting services, a club repair room (fondly labeled the Dirty Room) and a demonstration area with shafts, grips and clubheads from top manufacturers like Titleist, TaylorMade and Callaway.

The elevated teaching experience doesn’t end there. Once players are finished with lessons they can go outside to one of eight covered bays nearby that all feature the same Toptracer technology that was just used during their respective teaching sessions. Each player will have the ability to see real-time data for each swing.

Packages for individuals, couples, juniors, academies and clinics will be offered. There also will be additional programs designed to incorporate fitness into a session. Holder expects that groups of business executives will reserve the space for team-building activities while sprinkling in a little golf. The Trackman technology can also turn the space into a simulator experience with nearly 200 golf courses available.

Casa de Campo Resort and Villas Announces Teeth of the Dog Restoration

Golf Course Regrassing and Modernization Project Begins January 2025

(LA ROMANA, Dominican Republic) – Casa de Campo Resort & Villas – named in GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World” – announces its celebrated Pete Dye-designed Teeth of the Dog golf course will undergo a restoration project led by Jerry Pate Design beginning January 2025.

Since opening in 1971, Teeth of the Dog has become widely known as Dye’s masterpiece and has been long considered the No. 1 course in the Caribbean. Dye’s genius design hallmarks are all showcased on the dramatic seaside layout: railroad ties, vast waste areas, peninsula greens and tees, hand-sculpted putting surfaces and a unique assortment of pot bunkers. The seven exceptional oceanfront holes are astoundingly beautiful, causing Dye to famously quip: “I created 11 holes and God created seven.”

Starting on Jan. 20, 2025, Pate and his team will work on modernizing and updating the classic 18 with an assortment of predominantly cosmetic enhancements, the chief being a complete regrassing of Teeth of the Dog with Dynasty Paspalum – an ideal grass for seaside courses. In addition to the new state-of-the-art turf on the tee boxes, fairways and greens, three inches of sand will be added to the fairways before seeding for improved playability and irrigation.

Pate and his team will additionally return the surrounding edges of Teeth of the Dog’s greens to their original size as first fashioned by Dye with some slight recontouring as well. All greenside bunkers will be reshaped and expanded to flat bottoms with enhanced faces for a sharper, more dramatic look. All cart paths will feature new concrete along with new rock paths curbing around the tees and greens. Following the modernization, Teeth of the Dog will reopen for resort and member play in November 2025.

“We are also honored to showcase our two additional Dye-created gems on property for our golfers to play and enjoy during Teeth of the Dog’s restoration,” continues Gagon. “As a matter of fact, up-and-coming Dye Fore has become as popular in the last few years and is on par with Teeth of the Dog as another Pete Dye-designed masterpiece here at Casa de Campo.”
