Masters Third Round Pairings and Tee Times

There are some great groups to follow at The Masters this Saturday. Tiger is interesting by himself, of course. Unfortunately, Graeme Mcdowell doesn’t add anything to that mix, and given the striped one’s tee time at 1:05, we’ll miss his first few holes. Television no doubt, however, will give us a hole by hole recap.

The Ogilvy – Mickelson pairing (1:25) is interesting as it pairs two players who can legitimately claim to be the second best on the planet. The Furyk – Garcia pairing (2:05) mixes calm and steady with emotional fire and immaturity (even at age 29).

Tim Clark and Anthony Kim (2:25) is another fortuitous combination. I think Clark could win this tournament. Kim’s brilliant eleven birdie round yesterday can make a believer out of anyone.

And finally, I have to say that I’m really pulling for Kenny Perry. I root for the older guys (being an older guy myself), and since Couples and Norman missed the cut, Perry’s what I have left. He’s also always struck me as a really nice guy, and occasionally nice guys deserve to finish first.

Here are the tee times and pairings for Saturday’s round at The Masters:

10:35 am – Ryuji Imada, Stuart Appleby
10:45 am – Kevin Sutherland, ross Fisher
10:55 am – Trevor Immelman, Rory McIlroy

  1. Personally, I am more interested in Graeme McDowell than Tiger.  Why?  Graeme McDowell asked me for the time one day when we were hitting balls at a practice range in Alabama, and I spoke to him for a couple minutes.  He was in college at the time at UAB.

Having said that, I can imagine CBS is none too happy with the top 10 or 15 names on the leaderboard.  They gotta be pulling hard for Michelson—and for Perry and Campbell to falter.

  2. Hey, I gotta keep dropping names and places…

I was at Augusta for a Monday practice day a few years back.  The year Michelson won his first one.  2004, I think.

Kenny Perry.  He won a touney I attended.  The Colonial in Ft. Worth that Annika Sorenstam played in!

    Yup, I get around.
