A letter of intent has been signed by Ann Arbor’s Polo Fields Golf and Country Club to purchase the hundred-ten-year-old Washtenaw Country Club. If the due diligence goes as expected, Polo Fields will take over on December 31, 2009.
The plan apparently is for the Polo Fields to run both clubs, and memberships would extend to both facilities. As proposed, the dual-membership rate actually is cheaper than that which was paid by Washtenaw Country Club members.
This is terrific news for the community. I just hope that the dual clubs receive enough support to make the project work.

The Polo Fields can’t afford Washtenaw country club. They’re on a life raft themselves.
