Pressel Becomes Youngest LPGA Major Winner

At the age of 18, Morgan Pressel has just become the youngest winner of a Major in LPGA history. She shot a final round three under 69. Considering that she just missed a victory as the US Women’s Open last season, it’s pretty clear that she’s on here way to becoming a force on the Tour.

Now she’s got to take a dive in the pond—the Swim at the Shore. A friend who has played at—and knows some of the folks at—Mission Hills (where the tournament is played), told me last week that the tournament has to completely drain and clean the pond in preparation for the tournament. It normally is pretty scummy—as are most ponds at most courses, thanks to algae which is encouraged to grow with the runoff from fertilized fairways and greens.

Meanwhile, Michelle Wie has just turned down an invite to the Ginns Open, which is to be played in two weeks. Wie has not yet recovered from the broken wrist she suffered earlier this year.
