Six Degrees of Augusta National

“Six degrees of Separation” is the notion that no one on earth is more than six acquaintances apart. Later, it became a fun little game called “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.” That game has movie buffs picking a random actor and trying to link him or her to Kevin Bacon.

Here’s a golf version: Six Degrees of Augusta National. How many steps are you away from golf’s sacred fairways?

If you have played Augusta National, your score is “0.” If you’ve played with someone who has played Augusta, your score is one … and so forth.

For my part, the score is one. I have played golf with Stuart Appleby, who has played Augusta National.

Perhaps a more interesting one would be “Six Degrees of Pine Valley.”
