The PGA Tour would very much like for The Players Championship to be considered a “fifth Major,” and in many respects it is, boasting perhaps the strongest field in golf.
Inaugural rounds were played at the Atlanta Country Club in 1974. The tournament was played at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth in 1975, and at the Inverrary Country Club in Ft. Lauderdale in 1976.
In 1977, The Players Championship moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. From 1977 to 1981, it was played at the Sawgrass Country Club. In 1982, it was moved to the Stadium Course, commonly referred to as the TPC at Sawgrass (The Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass).
The TPC at Sawgrass is perhaps most famous for its island green on the par 3 17th hole.

I HAVE HEARD STORIES ABOUT TIGER WOODS CUSSING AND UTTERING PROFANITIES ON THE GOLF COURSE AND I WANT TO KNOW IF THEY ARE TRUE. TIGER HAS A BEAUTIFUL WIFE AND A DAUGHTER. WHY WOULD HE
EVEN THINK OF UTTERING PROFANITIES ANYWHERE.
WHAT IF HIS WIFE AND DAUGHTER HEARD THEM?
Tiger, indeed, has been known to have a potty mouth.
Dear friends…I’m 71 years old fighting a bad “cancer”…I used to play Golf 4 times a week
in Westchester County, NY…Retired…
I cannot find an “easy way to find out a Table for EVERY Tournament showing the $ Winnings”…
(as an example Stenson won $1.7M at the players…”
Where/how do I find such a Table after each tournment?
A frequent visitor to your WbSite. THANKS.

Ned i’m sorry I can’t answer the question you posted. But I just wanted to wish the best of everything. I think you’re very wise to keep yourself interested in the golf world and the statistics. keep up your great attitude.
While the talks of making The Players Championship the “fifth major” does appeal and has its perks, but I believe it should stand out on its own…Let’s make it the PGA’s the most prestigious event.
Very good post. Thanks a lot.
Looking at those previous winners it’s a real who’s who of golf. So many previous major winners in that list.
Looking forward to seeing how Adam Scott backs up after his Masters victory.
