Ann Arbor Golf Course Superintendent Recognized For Environmental Leadership

Scott Spooner, Maintenance Superintendent for Ann Arbor’s Leslie Park Golf Course was selected as a merit winner in the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America / Golf Digest Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards.

Presented by GCSAA and Golf Digest in partnership with Syngenta and Rain Bird, the Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards recognize golf course superintendents and golf courses around the world for their commitment to environmental stewardship.

Spooner helped Leslie Park become a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” in 2012 through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. He also was responsible for Leslie Park being certified by the Michigan Turfgrass Environment Stewardship Program for exceeding requirements of environmental laws, protection of water resources and the enhancement and maintenance of turfgrass and open spaces.

Spooner will be recognized in the February 2014 issue of Golf Course Management Magazine.
