The Double JJ Resort in western Michigan, which closed last summer and sold at auction, apparently will reopen Memorial Day.
Originally known as the Jack and Jill Ranch, the Double JJ had been in operation for 71 years. Located north of Muskegon, it features a dude ranch, championship golf course, hotel and conference center, horse trails, a friday night rodeo and a $12 million indoor waterpark.
Progressive Resorts—a four-way partnership out of Erie, Pa. led by American Resort Management LLC—plans to close on the deal by April 24, company officials said.
Progressive Resorts’ separate purchase of the Double JJ Thoroughbred Golf Course from Shelby State Bank is expected to be presented to the court in the next 10 days, according to Stephen Grow, attorney for the trustee.
American Resort Management plans to begin opening the New Frontier with the indoor water park, Sundance Saloon and golf course by mid-May and have the entire 1,100-acre resort open by Memorial Day, company officials said.
The management company also will revive the July 4 Rothbury Music Festival.

That’s GOOD news.

in reviewing your posting you may want to check recent changes regarding Progressive’s potential purchase of The Throughbred Golf course. Reliable sources would indicated the Progressive was out bid by a Private Buyer in a Sheriffs auction on April 16 2009. The final approval of sale is pending bankruptcy court judge/trustee hearing Monday April 27 2009
Their website says they’re opening the golf course, and news reports from the 18th of April say that they’re also going to purchase the course … so that all I can go on at this point. Its entirely possible that the course will be owned by someone else, though. I guess we’ll have to see on April 27.
Golf blogger …I understand where your getting your info….checkout the Oceana paper (Shelby Bank throughbred Golf) it mentions Progressive in talks with SSB trying to negotiating a deal prior to a sheriff’s auction. That auction took place and if Progressive has anything to do with the course it will be in the form of a lease arrangement. They were soundly out bid at the auction. On the Doublejj.com posting March 30th it originally said Progressive was talking to the bank to purchase…that posting has been changed although the March 30th date has not.
hello again…..check out the oceana herald paper to update and verify Throughbred has a new owner and it is not Progressive ….thanks for the site ..may not of sounded like it early but I do appreciate it :}}
Looks like things at the Double JJ and Golf are undecided?
Wondering what is the lastest
Kerri …..check out the Oceanaheraldjournal.com article written by John Cavanaugh ….appears that a delay in opening has to do with the Fed’s having to grant loan approval…so that would bring into question the Double JJ being open for your event …unfortunately NO ONE knows 99% of what you hear out there is rumors ….you might want to contact your State Rep …I am sure there is Political pressure involved with the High Oceana unemployment rate as well as the multi Million dollar Rothbury Fest. Fast approaching
it sais they are to reopen on memorial day??????????? well that must not be true it is now july 7th and still nobody answeres their phones to make reservations for the sandy corley run.
