I ran across a wall drill to correct my backswing a couple of weeks ago, and found that it has made a huge and nearly immediate difference in my game.
The crux of the drill is this: that you stand with your back to a wall while practicing the backswing. The wall ensures that you do not take the club too far inside, which can result in an over the top swing.
Positioned in front of the wall, the only possible move is to get the club parallel to the target line, and from there, up.
Taking that feeling to the course has been (mostly) successful. When setting up, I find it fairly easy to imagine that the wall is behind me, getting my club into position. From there, I have a much better chance of making a good swing down and through.
