Golf Is Everywhere: Hacks Edition

I’ve recently been watching the Max series Hacks and enjoying it immensely. It’s about the relationship between an aging (but still vibrant) comedian Debra Vance and her young, angst-ridden writer. Much of the show is set in Las Vegas, where Vance has had a casino show for decades after a television career.

In Season 3, Episode 6 the pair find themselves at a golf resort trying to impress a group of television affiliate owners.

Vance is a good golfer — as we see in an earlier scene at Top Golf — but when playing with the boys, she deliberately plays the “weak and helpless female” card.

There’s a lot going on in that episode — and in the series — as it mixes humor with some sharp social commentary.

I recommend it.
