Michigan’s Dave Kendall Among First To Join Golf Channel Academy

Dave Kendall, head of the Kendall Academy in Ypsilanti and Augusta, Michigan, is one of the first twenty five instructors to join the new Golf Channel Academy.

Kendall is a member of the Michigan PGA Hall of Fame, twice Michigan PGA Teacher of the Year and two time Michigan PGA Golf Professional of the Year. He was won two Michigan Senior Open Championshps and a Senior PGA Championship.

I had a very productive lesson from Dave Kendall a year ago, and was very impressed with his teaching style and focus.

The Golf Channel Academy is a network devoted to growing the business of golf instruction. The instructors will be able to access business and marketing services, technologies and the sharing of best practices. They may also appear on Golf Channel Instructional programming.

Orlando, Fla. (Jan. 6, 2015) – Dave Kendall, head of the Kendall Academy of Golf in Ypsilanti and Augusta, Mich. has been named one of the inaugural instructors of the newly formed Golf Channel Academy.

Twice recognized as the Michigan PGA Teacher of the Year (2000, 2004) and Michigan PGA Golf Professional of the Year (1990, 2006), Kendall, is among the first 25 of the game’s most influential and recognizable teachers coming together to establish a dedicated network of instruction facilities with the active support of Golf Channel, the game’s leading global multimedia and golf entertainment source.

“I’m very excited to be among the first teachers associated with the new, dynamic Golf Channel Academy,” said Kendall, who founded his successful golf schools at Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti, as well as Gull Lake View Golf Club in Augusta. “This is a chance for golf instructors to work together, learning from one another and adopting best practices in both teaching and the business of teaching. I think it’s going to propel the coaches and coaching forward in a big way.”

Golf Channel Academy is the first network of its kind devoted to efficiently growing the business of golf instruction. With 25 charter locations already committed, Golf Channel Academy will be inviting additional coaches to become part of the network as it launches in April 2015.

These coaches will benefit from a wide-spectrum of business consulting services and products addressing marketing, sales, technology and back-office solutions needs, as well as shared best practices across the network. Coaches also will have the opportunity to appear on instructional programming across Golf Channel’s television and digital platforms. Students at Golf Channel Academy locations will be able to track their progress using advanced software to measure specific goals under the direction of their personal coach.

Named the No. 2 instructor in Michigan in Golf Digest’s Best in State rankings (2013-’14), Kendall is also a recipient of Ferris State University’s Bill Strausbaugh Award and the Michigan PGA’s Horton Smith Award for contributions in PGA professional education.

An accomplished player, Kendall has won two Michigan Senior Open Championships. In 2007, he captured Michigan’s Senior Open and Senior PGA Championship, and was awarded Michigan PGA Senior Player of the Year honors. One of Golf Range magazine’s Top 50 Instructors in America, Kendall has taught golfers of all skill levels for more than 30 years.
