Each afternoon this fall when I have stopped for a quick nine on the way home from work, it has been with a sense of foreboding. “This,” I think, “will be the last nine of the season.”
I thought that last week, before I took off on a weekend overnighter to Charleston, South Carolina’s Wild Dunes Resort. And yet, on the first full day back, temperatures were in the upper 60s under a sunny sky.
It can’t last, of course. Snow is predicted for the weekend. And even if the temperatures hold, lack of sunlight will eventually put a stop to later afternoon rounds.
But I’m going to enjoy it in the meantime.
