Who Is On The 2023 Ryder Cup Team?
Zach Johnson has made his Captain’s picks and the 2023 US Ryder Cup team now is in place.
The Ryder Cup team members are
- Scottie Scheffler (automatic qualifier)
- Wyndham Clark (automatic qualifier)
- Brian Harman (automatic qualifier)
- Patrick Cantlay (automatic qualifier)
- Max Homa (automatic qualifier)
- Xander Schauffele (automatic qualifier)
- Sam Burns (Captain’s Pick)
- Rickie Fowler (Captain’s Pick)
- Collin Morikawa (Captain’s Pick)
- Jordan Spieth (Captain’s Pick)
- Brooks Koepka (Captain’s Pick)
- Justin Thomas (Captain’s Pick)
The choice of Brooks Koepka is a controversial one, as the 2023 PGA Championship winner currently is playing on the LIV tour. The situation put Captain Johnson in a bit of a no-win position. If he didn’t include Koepka and the US team lost, the wags all would claim it was because Koepka was excluded. However, since he did include Koepka, I can imagine the grumbling very online golf “experts” blaming a loss on bad locker room vibes.
It looks like a good team to me. It would have been very difficult to exclude one of this year’s Major champions.
