Fitness Friday: Can Walking Build Muscle?
Walking is one of the best things that you can do for your health. Consistent walking helps with general fitness, weight loss and is even thought to slow the aging process.
I’m convinced walking will improve your golf game.
Walking also can apparently build muscle.
LiveScience has an article on how and why walking can build muscle. Your legs wont’ end up looking like The Rock’s, but you will build and preserve lean muscle mass. Walking will obviously work out the muscles in your lower body, but also in your abdomen and spine, which are used to maintain stability and balance.
The article cites a 2018 study from Nagoya University that found muscle quality improved after ten weeks of regular walking.
It makes sense to me.
