GolfBlogger’s 2022 Holiday Gift Guide: Apparel and Shoes

GolfBlogger’s 2022 Holiday Gift Guide: Apparel and Shoes

Each year, I receive a great many items in the mail hoping for a review on these august pages. Not all make it. Life is too short to spend time writing bad reviews, so I ignore the ones I dislike and focus on being positive about the ones I do.

Here are a few shoes and apparel that I enjoyed from the past year and can recommend for a gift for the golfer in your life.

You can’t go wrong with any of the offerings from TRUE Linkswear. Each of their shoes is designed from the ground up for walking golfers. Riding golfers will love them as well.

TRUE shoes are especially my go-to on my 36-hole walking marathons in the summer. Even after twelve to fifteen miles of golf, they still leave me with a spring in my step.

Asics made their name with running and training shoe. Indeed, Bruce Lee favored Asics “Tiger” shoes for his martial arts exploits.

I was surprised, therefore, to discover that Asics has teamed up with Srixon and now makes golf shoes.

As you would expect of a company steeped in running shoe design, the Asics/Srixon shoes are wonderful for walking. They also offer the stability and ground connection that golfers demand.

Radmor is a direct-to-consumer line of apparel that manages to straddle the line between hip and classic. The designs are good looking; the materials and finish are terrific.

I thought their slim fit pants would be too much for this fifty-something golfer, but they fit right and — most importantly — Mrs. GolfBlogger likes the way they look on me.

TRUE All Day Chino

True makes some of my favorite golf shoes, such as their Original, Knit II, and OG Feel. Now the company has branched out into apparel with its All Day chino and All Day five pocket golf trousers.

I haven’t Now True has branched out into golf pants (I’m pretty sure that TRUE, like so many companies, has always sold T shirts and hats.)

I haven’t had the All Day chinos long enough to give them a proper test, but my initial impression is very good. The All Day Chino pants feature:Slim/straight fit, 4-way stretch, abrasion resistant nylon, natural matte finish and feel, DWR water and stain resistant coating, highly breathable, cell phone/passport pocket, secure YKK back zipper pocket, elastic key loop, and high visibility reflective back cuff piping.
