Mike Weir, it seems, has been fired by his caddy. Brennan Little is leaving the Masters’ winner to work as Sean O’Hair’s sherpa.
It is, surely, a business decision. A caddy typically gets ten to fifteen percent of a player’s earnings, and Weir has had precious little of those lately. To be fair, though, Weir has done very well by Little. With $27 million in career earnings for Weir, his caddy likely has cashed a couple of million worth of paychecks. Last year, though, Weir earned $560,000, meaning that under the ten percent rule, Little made $56,000. That’s above the median family income of $52,029, but he also has a lot of travel expenses.
Interesting business.
